Performing
Arts
Did you ever see people on the stage singing,
playing music or acting out a poignant drama
and think, "They
must be professionals"? They’re not. They’re
volunteers, just like you. Granted, the vocalists
and musicians who grace our stage during weekend
services are performing at high levels – but
there are also artistic opportunities for those
who are just getting started. Contact Brian Lusky
•
Vocalists – perform solos and assist in leading
worship. 11:00 service teams rehearse Thursday
nights at 6:30 p.m., 9:15 service teams rehearse at
8:30
on Sunday mornings, and Saturday night teams rehearse
at 4:00 on Saturday afternoons.
• Instrumentalists – perform a wide variety
of musical styles during weekend services and special
events; bands typically include drums, bass guitar,
electric guitar and keyboard – but just about
any instrument played well could have a place on
our stage. We also always need classical instrumentalists
(organ, piano, strings, woodwinds, etc.) for our
9:15 service to both assist with worship and also
to provide solo music for offertories, etc.
• Drama – perform in weekend dramas, direct
actors, assist with costuming, props, and staging, write
original scripts and adapt existing scripts. Drama
rehearsals are held on a selected weeknight when
a drama is scheduled for the following weekend;
actors must be available for all weekend services.
• Creative Team – participate in initial
planning for upcoming services. Creative minds think of new
and intriguing ways of presenting the truth of
scripture through our worship services. This team plans and
carries out service elements using the mediums
of music, dance, drama, video, visual aids, PowerPoint
design, testimonies, poetry, etc.
• Karis – perform with this mixed ensemble
of high-quality vocal musicians. Currently, Karis leads
worship at the 9:30 service approximately once
per month, as well as providing regular special selections
at all services. Karis often performs their selections
with instrumental accompaniment including piano,
bass, guitars, drums, etc.
• Choir – participate in our worship choir
that serves to enhance and support our worship experiences.
The choir sings monthly at the 9:15 and 11:00 services.
