Many
have expressed interest in discovering and
using their spiritual
gifts. You must complete the
online SHAPE assessment before the class and bring the results with you.
Hope
to see you
there! Contact Derek Sanford for
more information.
The class is an exploration of discovering your
personal ministry. We at Grace believe strongly
that you have been uniquely gifted by God
and equipped to have a personal ministry to extend
the Kingdom
of God. This class covers topics including:
discover your Spiritual Gifts, discover your Heart
and
passions, discover your unique Abilities,
discover your Personality,
discover how God will use your life Experiences.
You will discover these aspects of your unique
gifts through a series of self-administered
questionaires as well as biblical teaching and discussion
on
each of the topics. Our mentor church, Northway
Christian Community, has developed a fantastic
web-based tool that allows you to take the
SHAPE
questionnaires online
or you can contact
Derek Sanford to register
for the next available SHAPE class.
A quick overview
of SHAPE:
There
are five factors that influence who you are. The bible
seems to indicate that these
things SHAPE
how you are supposed to serve others.
So in this class we study these 5 influences that
determine
your SHAPE for ministry
S
- SPIRITUAL GIFTS
1 Corinthians 7:7 "Each man has his own gift
from God, one has this gift, another has that." So
the first question we look at is "What
am I gifted to do?"
H - HEART
Revelation 17:17 "God has put it into their
hearts to accomplish his purpose."
The question you answer here is, "What do
I love to do?" Isn't it true
there are some things you love to
do and there's
just
some things
you hate to do? That's your heart.
Where did you get that natural inclination?
God put it
in you.
God wants your ministry to be a blessing,
not a burden.
A - ABILITIES
"
I (God) have given him skill, ability, and knowledge
in all kinds of crafts." Those are vocational
skills. God says He gives people abilities. 2 Corinthians
3:5 says "our competence comes
from God."
The third question we ask is, “What
natural talent and skills do I have?
What vocational
skills have I learned? What natural
talents have I been
given by God?”
P - PERSONALITY
This is the fourth thing we look
at. We're all very different. We've
all
got different
personalities,
different blends of temperament.
1 Corinthians 2:11 "No one can
really know what anyone else is thinking
or what he is
really like,
except that
person himself."
So we ask the question, “Where
does your personality best suit you
to serve?”
E - EXPERIENCES
2 Corinthians 1:4 "God helps us in our troubles,
so we are able to help others who
have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that
we
ourselves
have received from God."
Your experiences help determine the
direction you should be involved
in ministry. You
will weigh
what spiritual, painful, educational,
and ministry experiences that you’ve
already had in your life that God
may want to use to help
others in
ministry.
