Small Groups

At Grace, we believe the best environment for life change happens in Small Groups. And so, once people have begun attending Grace, we believe they should soon try out a small group where friendships can form, needs can be met and opportunities to use spiritual gifts and abilities can happen in a nurturing atmosphere. We have almost 50 adult groups that meet at Grace all over the area!

Groups are characterized by mutuality, accountability, servant hood and love. It is a place where the teachings of the scriptures come alive and people can enjoy deep, soul-stirring relationships. This kind of intimacy can rarely happen in a large group during the weekend services.

Small groups are welcoming, worshipping communities of 8-12 people designed to strengthen our connection to God and each other. Each small group has its own personality and is as unique as its individual members. What all groups have in common is that their members willingly embark on a purpose-driven journey together to help one another grow in the Lord

Two or 3 times a year, Grace offers opportunities to join a 6-week small group on a trial basis. Please watch for the next opportunity to join a HOST group!

Next Steps: Ways to Join a Group

  • Contact Miriam Crossman by phone at 814-790-4973 or by email.
  • Visit an existing group. Perhaps you are not sure you are ready to join a group yet, but you are interested in what group life is all about. There is no obligation to join, but this will allow you to experience a group in action.
  • Start a small group! If you are a member of Grace and are interested in leading a group, we are always in need of new leaders. Contact Miriam Crossman for information on how to be trained and supported in starting a new group.
  • Join a HOST group. Would you like to try a small group on a trial basis? Two or 3 times a year we begin 6-week HOST groups that have the option of becoming a permanent group. It’s a great way to see if a small group is for you!
  • Visit the Small Group table at Connections Café and fill out the Small Group involvement form and leave it with the person volunteering at the Café.
  • Click here to fill out a Small Group involvement form online that will help us to place you on a small group with the best possible fit. Or you can use this printable form and mail it to Grace Baptist Church or drop it off at the church office or information desk

What People Are Saying About Small Groups

"Small group has given me support and help when I didn't even know I needed it. I always thought, I can do it alone, but joining small group has shown me the blessings I have missed by trying to go it alone. Words really can't describe what small group means to me.”

"My group has been an important part of my spiritual growth over the past decade. It helps you to realize that no matter what you are struggling with in your life, there is someone else having the same struggles and knowing that you can rely on Jesus for comfort.”
