WHY
are we Relocating?
We’re out of seats at 11:00, we’re out of
parking spaces on Sunday mornings, we are attracting
guests at a phenomenal rate, but we have no place to
put them, there are 55,000 people within a 7 mile radius
of the church who don’t have a church home, and
it’s not about us anymore it’s about making
room for them.
Do you remember the song that gave you goose bumps because
it felt like it was written for you? How about the time
you saw your friend or neighbor that you brought to church
stand up for prayer and reach a hand out for God’s
help? And how could you forget the PowerPoint presentation
that moved you to tears? Or the times you felt God Himself
had crafted the sermon just for you? You are a part of
Grace Church. You have a seat. A parking place. And the
love of a church family. But it’s not just about
us anymore.
We’ve reached the point in our history as a church
where it is time once again to make room for those who
aren’t here yet. We’re becoming more serious
than ever about reaching out to those outside of our
walls. Think of the stressed-out mom who’s doing
the best she can, but somehow it never seems enough,
or the lonely, struggling friend, the angry driver on
the road beside you, the child who’s never heard
how much she matters to God, or he desperate family that
just can’t make ends meet. We have all been touched
by this church. It’s why we keep coming back. Now
it’s our turn to touch others with the love of
Christ.
To think that Grace can keep doing what we’re doing
with increasing effectiveness for generations to come
on these tiny three acres is nearsighted at best. The
time has come for us to commit to being an ever-expanding
light in this community both now and in the future. We
need a bigger base of operations from which to fulfill
our mission in this town. This project is not about a
building, it’s about making room for more people.
We’ve already met some of those people who are
not here yet - they’re your neighbors and co-workers
and family members. But many of the people that this
project will touch; you and I will never meet. They may
come 100 years from now when Grace turns 210 years old
and continues to have an ever-increasing influence in
the Erie area. And that church will be able to reach
more and more people because of the bold decision made
by a visionary group of people back in 2005 when they
chose to make more room for people to come!
Our next steps as a church will change countless lives
in our community and for generations to come. And being
a part of this project will change your life as well.
This is our time. To dream with each other, inspire each
other and imagine the great things God can do that are
truly “beyond imagination.”
