Diane
Wright
Director of Buildings and Grounds, Women’s
Ministry Coordinator
What
do you do at Grace? I oversee buildings/grounds,
work with the leaders of each of the women’s
ministries at Grace
How long have you been at Grace? 3 years
Family Information: Cleve, married
15 years, and 2 daughters: Chloe, 8 years old
and Emma, 6 years old
Education: B.A. Mathematics
Education, University of Kentucky, 1988
M.A. Secondary Education, Ball State University, 1992
Fun Stuff:
If you were an animal, what would you
be (why)? Kangaroo – I am very
independent (like the kangaroo, I stand on my
own two feet), I always keep my children very
close to me (not quite as close as the kangaroo
and their joeys in their pouch), and I am not
indigenous to this region (like kangaroos I’m
not from Erie!).
Favorite color: Yellow.
Favorite Food: I have to pick just
one??
Pet Peeves: passive
aggressive behavior
Hobbies: who has time?
If you had 24 hours to live, what three
things would you do?
1. Row with an Ivy League rowing team in New
England
2. Have a wonderful (and I mean WONDERFUL!) meal
with all of the people I love
3. I know it’s sick but I’d probably
clean my house!
Tell
us about a few influential (or favorite)
books you’ve read:
1. Children are Wet Cement by Anne Ortlund – sweet and encouraging
book about raising children
2. The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace – a
rare find that offers positive, Godly replacement
of baggage that can drag your marriage down
3. Love Lists by Les & Leslie Parrot – it’s
the little things that make a difference
in marriage and this book gives nice structure
to encourage your marriage
Spiritual
Stuff:
Tell us a little bit about your spiritual
journey: I accepted Christ when I
was 11 years old. My relationship with Christ
didn’t really develop until I was in
college. Since then, many experiences like
marriage, having children, and moving several
times have grown my relationship with Christ.
My journey continues toward an intimate and
meaningful daily walk with God.
What
did you do before you
started working at Grace? I have
been a math teacher, guidance counselor,
stay-at-home mom, and busy volunteer.
Why
are you passionate about church and ministry? In
Matthew 22, Jesus said the first and most
important commandment is to love God. He
then said, the second most important commandment
is to love your neighbor as you love yourself.
As I learn to love God, more and more,
one of the strongest desires of my heart
is to serve, support, and encourage women.
As an naturally independent person, I believe God is growing me in the area of
teamwork. Jesus has given us so many examples of working together (the Trinity,
the disciples, etc.) and more than ever, teams are effective in the church, whether
in Women’s Ministries or Buildings/Grounds.
